Testimonials from ‘Piggies as Therapy’ visits to residential homes, Scout groups
and other educational venues.
Sue first wrote to me after seeing my advert on free cycle asking for anything which may help me out after my new position as Activity Coordinator in a home for the elderly.
Sue asked me if I would be interested in her bringing over her Guinea pigs to the home as she ran a guinea pig sanctuary.
A date was arranged and in advance I put a poster advertising the guinea pigs were coming to visit at the home.
We have about twenty residents and some seemed interested and the others did not show an interest at all when I mentioned it to them.
The big day arrived. Sue and her helpers brought in about eight guinea pigs to the residents which were waiting in the lounge. They automatically started to put the ladies at ease. They knelt besides them and talked about the habits and different personalities of these small and cute animals.
Each lady took it in turns to hold the different ones. One lady who was so against wanting anything to do with them was completely captivated and took it in turn to make sure she held everyone.
We also had residents in their rooms. Sue then offered to visit these people as well. Everyone was involved including the staff.
This visit was the most relaxed I had seen our residents and nothing was too much trouble for Sue and her helpers.
The residents talked about it for days and I know they are looking forward to future visits from Sue with her furry friends.
We would recommend to anyone to have the Guinea pigs visit them.
Thank you again Sue and helpers to your kindness and consideration and patience.

When the G-Force Movie was screened at the Vue Cinema in Doncaster we asked to go along with some of our Piggies to promote responsible Guinea ownership and provide advice and information to anyone considering getting a Piggie.
We were warmly welcomed by Manager Dave and his Team. We gained several new volunteers and were able to do some invaluable fundraising by piggie sponsorship and donations.
In all we spent 5 days there, had a great time and promoted responsible pet ownership.
